What to do on Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica

Just seven minutes south of The Ambrose, Third Street Promenade is a pedestrian-only shopping, dining, and entertainment district in downtown Santa Monic. It’s the perfect place to visit if you’re craving a little retail therapy. In addition to popular retailers like Patagonia, Anthropologie, and Kate Spade, the Third Street Promenade is home to great local businesses, spas and theaters. Check out some of our favorite spots in and around the area.

CASSIA

Located in the heart of downtown Santa Monica, on the ground floor of the iconic, 1930s era Telephone Building, Cassia has been serving upscale, French-Asian fare since 2015. You can sit in their bright and airy dining room, but we prefer the cozy, softly lit sidewalk patio. Cassia: 1314 7th St.; 310-393-6699

SANTA MONICA FARMERS MARKET

If you want to feel like a local, we suggest shopping and eating like one. Check out the Santa Monica Farmers Market year-round, on Wednesdays and Saturdays on the corner of 5th Street and Arizona Avenue. Pick up some local produce, pack it up, and head out for a picnic at Palisades Park. Santa Monica Farmers Market2640 Main St; 310-458-8712

WASTELAND

Wasteland started out as a small, tucked-away vintage shop in Berkley, but has since grown to include three more stores in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Santa Monica. Its well-curated selection of modern and vintage women’s clothes is known to attract and inspire designers like Marc Jacobs and Vivienne Westwood. Wasteland: 1330 4th St.; 310-395-2620

ARCONA STUDIO

From haircare, to massage, to deep cleansing facial treatments, Arcona Studio is a high-end retreat for those who consider self-care a necessity. WESTSIDE COMEDY THEATER

Lounging on the beach and shopping on Third Street Promenade are serious business: let loosen up a little bit at Westside Comedy Theater. This small club and bar offers a variety of classes, open mics, and stand-up performances. It’s known to train and host up-and-comers, and actually helped introduce stars like Aziz Ansari, Dave Chappelle, and Zach Galifianakis. Westside Comedy Theater: 1323-A 3rd St.; 310-451-0850
